2019 Montréal Pride Festival: Registration Now Open To Organizations and Companies

Montréal, February 19, 2019 — The Montréal Pride Festival, the largest gathering of the sexual and gender diversity communities in the Francophone world, will hold its 13th edition from August 8 to 18, 2019. Community, business and corporate organizations are invited to register before July 6, 2019 to show their support of the LGBTQ+ communities. With an attendance of 2.1 million festival goers during the 2018 edition, the festival which is presented by TD in collaboration with Casino de Montréal, once again announces very promising programming for this year. Its updated website is already online with readily accessible registration for both the Parade and the Community Day.

Registration

Organizations and companies are invited to log on to the Montréal Pride website at the following address https://fiertemtl.com/en/festival/take-part/registration/ to register between now and July 6, 2019. It should be noted that considering last year’s success, the registration period may possibly be shortened because of the number of registrations received or that certain groups may not be able to register.

Once again in 2019, Montréal Pride will be organizing a contest for Montréal-based LGBTQ+ non-profit organizations with an annual budget under $100,000, to provide them with a banner and T-shirts with their logo for the parade, as well as 500 copies of their brochure or pamphlet for the community day event. Contest details will be unveiled shortly.

Pride Parade Theme

For the sixth year, the rainbow flag has inspired the theme of the parade with the color violet to be highlighted in 2019. Violet is the last color on the flag and it symbolizes the spirit or spirituality among the communities of the sexual and gender diversity. The color violet and its hues and tones evoke dreams, gentleness and peace. The result of the blending of pink and blue, two colors generally associated with gender stereotypes, the color violet contains the spectrum of identities. This year, norms are being questioned and a plurality of nuances will be in the spotlight.

Program

The Montréal Pride festival looks forward to unveiling its final programming next July. It promises to include the return of popular program events that festival goers have adopted and a wide host of new offerings for the 2019 edition. For the third year, all the free outdoor shows will be presented at Parc des Faubourgs. Designed to host large crowds of revelers, the park is easily accessible from the Papineau Métro station. A new, improved formula for the returning Casino de Montréal stage can be expected along with the promise of a totally new atmosphere.
