Press Release

Montréal Pride Chairperson suspended

Montréal, August 6, 2020 – The Board of Directors of the Montréal Pride festival has suspended its Chairperson indefinitely in order to examine a disclosure of sexual misconduct involving him. A mandate has been assigned to an independent external investigator who will report to the Board in coming weeks.

Until that time, Marie-Ève Baron, the Vice-chairperson, will act as Interim Chairperson of Montréal Pride. Ms Baron is very familiar with the organization having served as a board member for over 10 years while leading her career in engineering. Jean-François Perrier, a ten-year veteran of the Montréal Pride team, will act as Interim General Manager and ensure the on-going administrative efficiency of the organization.

Despite this situation, the various projects by Montréal Pride will proceed as planned including its flagship event, the Montréal Pride Festival, Edition 360. All of the activities are ready and will take place August 10 to 16, 2020.

To allow the external investigator to complete his work in full independence and in accordance with the process put in place, the organization will not issue any further comment on the situation at this time.
